Mississauga moves forward with ZEV strategy
The Peel Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Strategy serves to provide strategic actions to support increasing the use of light-duty ZEVs across the community. By working together to implement a region-wide strategy, Mississauga is aiming to efficiently support residents and businesses to reduce GHG emissions and air pollution. Transportation accounts for 33 percent of the City of Mississauga’s community greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Parkland Conveyance Bylaw
Following extensive stakeholder engagement, the City prepared a Parkland Conveyance By-law to help meet the future parkland needs to 2041 identified in the Parks Plan. The bylaw changes are meant to ensure that following planning policy changes made by the provincial government, there remains adequate parkland space within Mississauga as the city continues to grow.

City considering micromobility program
The City of Mississauga is considering a shared micromobility service as a pilot program to offer both electric pedal-assist bicycles and electric kick-style scooters to residents. The next step is for staff to develop an implementation strategy for the pilot program and to test and refine its parameters.

January storm damage
The winter storm that began on January 16 saw the City of Mississauga receive a total of 45cm of snow, the most snow that Mississauga has received in a single day since the 1940s. According to a staff report, the enhanced winter maintenance services required to dig the city out of the intense snowfall cost approximately $1.8 million.

Feasibility study of charging MiWay buses
Earlier this year Council approved a capital budget of $150,000 for an on-route MiWay charging feasibility study to help inform a conversion of its bus fleet to electric.
MiWay will be collaborating with the University of Toronto’s Transit Analytics Lab (TAL) to complete a study that will analyze the feasibility of charging MiWay buses as they conduct their routes.

Flood mitigation along Dundas
To help implement the Dundas Connects Master Plan, the City has been undertaking multiple flood mitigation and related studies that affect lands located within regulatory floodplains and provincially defined Special Policy Areas (SPA). There are three SPAs in the City of Mississauga east along Dundas Street which are the subject of study including Etobicoke Creek SPA, Dixie-Dundas SPA and Applewood SPA.
