The Pointer acknowledges the Government of Canada as a funding partner for our Local Journalism Initiative reporters, who are paid directly using funds provided by the government. The federal government provides a one-time grant for each of these positions, which The Pointer received funding for in 2024. The LJI initiative launched by the government supports its commitment to local journalism across the country.
The Pointer also acknowledges the Government of Canada as a funder through its Canada Periodical Fund-Aid to Publishers grant. The one-time grant was received in 2024 to help provide support for the current year.
